US/ICOMOS and the Heurich House Museum’s Heritage without Borders preservation series returns with “Cultural Landscape Practice in the United States and Australia: A Two-Way Conversation”, a lecture by Dr. Jane Lennon. The lecture will be held on Thursday, May 7 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm in the US/ICOMOS office space on the 3rd floor of the Heurich House Museum. This event is free and open to the public, but advance registration is requested.
Dr. Jane Lennon, an international expert on cultural landscapes from Australia, will speak on the Australian heritage practice. Dr. Lennon will also reflect on what she has learned studying heritage practice in the United States and how it has been adapted over time.
Following Dr. Lennon’s talk, a discussion panel will reflect on the intersection of the themes developed in her talk and contemporary U.S. practice, including efforts to further integrate cultural landscape practice in U.S. historic preservation. The discussion will be moderated by US/ICOMOS Trustee Brenda Barrett. Discussants will include:
- Erik Hein, Executive Director, National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers
- Barbara Wyatt, ASLA, National Park Service, National Register/NHL Programs
