It is with deep sadness that US/ICOMOS shares the news of the passing of Bonita (Bonnie) Mueller. Bonnie was an accomplished architect and a strong advocate for international culture heritage exchange. She was a valued member of the US National Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites and participated actively in its work. In November, 2014 Bonnie was among more than 50 Americans who made the trip to Florence, Italy for the 17th ICOMOS General Assembly, a once-every-three-years gathering of nearly 2000 heritage professionals from over 100 countries. It was on a US/ICOMOS outing to the fabled, ancient marble quarries of Carrara during this trip that US/ICOMOS Trustee Patricia O’Donnell snapped the photo accompanying this post. Bonnie — ever the avid traveler — can be seen kneeling. US/ICOMOS offers our love and sympathies to her husband, her family and her colleagues at the National Park Service. Bonnie will be deeply missed, both as a knowledgeable and creative colleague and as a friend to many.
