US/ICOMOS Successfully Meets Ronald Lee Fleming Unprecedented $200,000 Challenge Grant

US/ICOMOS is delighted to announce that we successfully met the Ronald Lee Fleming $200,000 Challenge Grant!

In June of 2020, US/ICOMOS Fellow Ron Fleming gave an unprecedented gift to US/ICOMOS: a matching challenge grant of  $200,000 which had to be met by December 31, 2020.

We at US/ICOMOS are very grateful to Ron Fleming for his great generosity of spirit. Ron exemplifies the famous statement of Daniel Hudson Burnham, “Make no little plans; they have NO magic to stir men’s blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make BIG plans; aim HIGH in hope and work.”

All his life, Ron Fleming has been concerned with the visual impact of the environment on our sensibilities. He has sought to address this issue with environmental education projects and urban design strategies in the United States and internationally through his work with the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Historic Cities, Towns and Villages.

Ron Fleming has always given very generously to US/ICOMOS of his intellect, his time and his treasure. We are grateful for his unprecedented $200,000 Matching Challenge grant. His generosity will enable US/ICOMOS, in the spirit of Burnham, to “Make big plans; aim high in hope and work.”

US/ICOMOS is extraordinarily grateful to US/ICOMOS Fellow, Ronald Lee Fleming!
