We are sad to announce that longtime US/ICOMOS friend and preservation advocate Sally Sims Stokes passed away on August 13, 2020. Sally’s career and influence were wide ranging: she researched and wrote about fashion history, architectural history, domestic work history, and historic preservation. As a specialist in academic library administration, Sally for many years served as Librarian and Curator of the National Trust for Historic Preservation Library Collection at the University of Maryland and as a faculty member in Library Sciences at the Catholic University of America. It is thanks to Sally that the US/ICOMOS archives reside at the University of Maryland.
Sally, along with her husband Samuel Stokes, was a longtime supporter of the US/ICOMOS International Exchange Program (IEP). Our photo here was taken at the 2018 IEP Symposium and Reception.
