Dr. Laurie Rush, Secretary of the US Committee of the Blue Shield
Dr. Laurie Rush is a US Army Archaeologist who manages Cultural Resources at Fort Drum, NY. Dr. Rush has a BA from Indiana University Bloomington, a PhD from Northwestern University, and is a Fellow of the American Academy in Rome. Her research specialty is Indigenous People of the Great Lakes. Dr. Rush was military liaison for return of Ur to the Iraqi People in 2009 and for Environmental Shuras in Kabul in 2010. On behalf of US Central Command she participated in key leader engagements across the Middle East and analyzed cultural property lessons learned for Iraq and Afghanistan. Dr. Rush co-directed research workshops for NATO and has served as a faculty member for CoESPU, UNESCO, UNICRI, the American University of Rome, and Donau University Krems. She compiled NATO Best Practices for CPP, is co-author of The Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Property; Saving the World’s Heritage and editor of Archaeology, Cultural Property and the Military. Dr. Rush is a Research Associate of the Smithsonian Institution, a University of Pennsylvania Consulting Scholar, and Secretary of the US Committee of the Blue Shield.
