Call for Proposals: UNESCO Fund for the Promotion of Culture

Applications are due by May 31, 2016
UNESCO is currently inviting application, including individuals, public bodies, and nonprofits, for its International Fund for the Promotion of Culture 2016. The aim is promote activities and programs which contribute to the promotion of culture and artistic creation. IFPC resources promote cultures as a source of knowledge, meanings, values, and identity, and the role of culture for sustainable development. It also promotes artistic creativity in all its forms, along with international and regional cultural cooperation. Priority will be given to projects submitted by young creators aged 18-30 and projects benefitting youth in the production of cultural and artistic works and events, or for the establishment of cultural and development strategies and programmes.
The IFPC provides financial and technical support directly to artists by cofounding their projects, with priority given to grassroot projects promoting gender equality, international and regional cooperation, peace and social stability.  In 2014, some projects approved for co-financing under the call were: Al Sununu Palestinian children’s choir (Palestine), Inheriting Harappa: the clay works of Mohammad Nawaz and Sheherezade Alam and creative interpretations by young Pakistani artists (Pakistan),  Youth, film and filmmaking in Uganda (Uganda), and Flaneur: a fresh photographic look about urban culture nowadays (Portugal, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Spain). The projects are chosen for their artistic and creative content, their partnership and resource mobilization, and their potential for sustainable impact.
