Please help us welcome our new Communications Coordinator, April Odom, who will oversee our communications going forward. We feel very lucky to have her as the newest member of our staff.
April Odom, a 25-year veteran in communications and media strategy, served as the longest-tenured mayoral spokesperson in Birmingham’s history, navigating crises and monumental events with unmatched expertise. From managing national and international media during natural disasters to securing global coverage for the city’s historic milestones, her leadership has consistently shone through. Odom spearheaded the visit of the Dalai Lama, hosted President Barack Obama and led the 50th commemoration of the 1963 Civil Rights Movement, culminating in the establishment of the Birmingham Civil Rights National Monument. As a communications consultant, she has continued to leverage her talent for strategic storytelling and impactful narratives to elevate brands and foster meaningful engagement. Odom holds a degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is a proud mother of three.
You can contact April at Comms [at] WorldHeritageUSA.org.
April replaces Jennifer Spreitzer, who has most recently overseen communications at ICOMOS-USA and World Heritage USA. Jenny, who departs in mid-January, will miss the staff, trustees, members, and interns who make the organization a vital one. If you’d like to keep in touch with her, please connect with Jenny on LinkedIn or join her Time Capsule Houses Facebook group, which she will be devoting more time to in future.
